Samsung is preparing to make its mark in 2024. The company plans to hold the Samsung Developer Conference 2024 on October 3, 2024. At this event, it is expected to introduce the Android 15-based One UI 7 update. Last year, the One UI 6 update introduced at SDC 2023 was released a month later, and Samsung is expected to follow the same pattern this year.
What’s in store for the One UI 7 update?
New reports suggest that the update could bring some radical design changes. The One UI update could offer unprecedented changes and a major revamp of the icons. Full details about the refresh have also started to be shared.
According to leaks shared on social media platform X, many of One UI 7’s user interfaces are inspired by Apple’s iOS 18 and Xiaomi’s HyperOS. Here are the expected innovations with One UI 7;
- Rounded icons and 3D view: This update will offer rounded and 3D-looking icons similar to those in macOS and visionOS.
- Revamped quick panel: The Quick Panel may have a similar look to iOS 18.
- Redesigned lock screen: The lock screen will have a more rounded design.
- Two-page notification panel: The notification panel will have two pages; swipe down from the left for notifications and swipe down from the right for quick settings. As in HyperOS, users will be able to quickly switch between the notification page and the quick settings page.
- Camera interface: All settings at the top of the Camera app will be moved to the bottom of the app. It will also be easier to expand and see quick settings with a new shortcut.
Samsung was also seen testing this update on various Galaxy phones, including the Galaxy S24 Plus, Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy S22 series. These phones are being tested on Geekbench with the Android 15-based One UI 7 update. So do you think the updates are enough? You can express your thoughts in the comments.
